Community college transfer students are less likely to participate in undergraduate scientific research compared to students who start their college career at a 4-yr institution. This NSF S-STEM project aims to provide community college transfer students with opportunities to participate in undergraduate research through the LEAP Scholars program. This 4-semester long program provides transfer students with a cohort of other transfer students, introduces students to research, and facilitates their pairing with a basic science faculty member to work in their research lab. Additionally, students in the program conduct an education research project focused on undergraduate research.
