Why RISE?
To promote equity in the experiences of undergraduates in STEM through innovative education research conducted at scale, leading to the development of best practices for inclusive STEM education.
What we do
- Identify inequities in college STEM by measuring who we include in college STEM and how they succeed
- Examine what factors contribute to inequities in undergraduate STEM education
- Design interventions that lessen inequities and maximize the success of all students
How we do it
- Generate innovative research ideas
- Scale research findings using replication studies for broader generalizations, cross-institutional comparisons to explore context differences, and longitudinal studies to explore the long-term impact
- Disseminate research findings to inform instructional practices, impact curricular decisions, and transform STEM disciplines into more inclusive spaces
